Giving Under Severed College Bound High Schoolers a Leg Up

The Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation is offering grants to give low-income high school students a leg up in preparing for college.  College Ready grants are offered to high school juniors and seniors to help them pay for programs preparing them to pass college-level math and English.

The programs provide students tools to succeed in college and graduate on time.  A majority of underserved population struggle too many semesters in remedial courses and dry up their college funds before they earn a degree.  Great Lakes is awarding grants of up to $300,000 each for tutoring and skill-building to succeed at college-level math and English classes.

Applications, due October 17, 2013, may be accessed online at mygreatlakes.org/community.
