Today Governor Scott Walker sent a letter to Wisconsin’s Tribal Leaders informing them of his decision to sign Assembly Bill 297 (AB 297) into law, establishing a fair due process for determining mascot appropriateness.
School districts now have a fundamentally fair solution to the mascot debate. The law replaces a system that was an embarrassment to due process. Schools now have a fair opportunity and are not forced to overcome a presumption of guilt in an expensive, divisive process.
