Greendale Man Accused of Burglarizing Person He's Known Since Elementary School

Burglar stole 72 Alprazolam pills, 27 Tenazepam pills, a black leather wallet, and $257.00 cash, made up of mostly $20 bills.

GREENDALE -- A Greendale man has been charged with felony burglary after the man tried stealing from someone he's known since elementary school.

According to the criminal complaint, police responded to a report of a home burglary on the 5500 block of Serene Court in Greendale on Sep. 22.

When police arrived on the scene, they spoke with the home owner, who explained that the suspect, Justin Leach, 32, had broken into his home and stole stole 72 Alprazolam pills, 27 Tenazepam pills, a black leather wallet, and $257.00 cash, made up of mostly $20 bills, according to his criminal complaint.

According to the home owner, he was in his living room when he heard a noise coming from the upstairs. When he went upstairs into his bedroom, he turned a light on and observed Leach standing in his bedroom.

According to the complaint, the light startled Leach, who reportedly dropped the money and wallet he was holding. The resident and his father then escorted Leach downstairs and into the garage to be held while they called police.

Instead, Leach fled on a bicycle. When asked how the home owner knew Leach, he told police he had known him since elementary school.

Leach was released from the Milwaukee County Jail on a $1,500 signature bond. He has been charged with felony burglary and faces maximums of 10 years prison or $50,000 in fines or both if he is convicted.
