Greendale Man Claims to Murder 3, But Police Find Vodka and Pills Instead

Man, 63, is charged after leading Greendale/Franklin Swat team on a five hour standoff after he claims to kill three people in his apartment.

A 63-year-old Greendale man is facing charges after he held police to a five hour standoff where he claimed to kill three people inside his apartment and was threatening to kill himself.

Thomas Vanremmen was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Friday with one count of disorderly conduct. If convicted, he faces up to 90 days in jail and $1,000 in fines.

On May 31, An officer got to the scene and evacuated the apartment complex while a SWAT team arrived on scene and officers from two other municipalities.

Vanremmen held up in the apartment for five hours with officers and said he hadn’t killed three people, but there was one person he knocked unconscious. He then said the man was conscious, but bleeding.

Eventually he came out of the apartment, however, officers didn’t find anyone else inside or firearms, only an empty bottle of vodka and medications strew about the apartment.

He will make his initial appearance in court Tuesday.
