Greendale Middle School 8th Graders Travel Back in Time

The Greendale Middle School 8th grade students journeyed into Greendale's past with a special walking tour led by members of the Greendale Historical Society in the heart of Greendale's historic district last week.

Over 200 students in Mrs. McCarthy's and Mrs. Perry's Social Studies classes were guided through some of Greendale's walking paths, 'A' section homes, Village Hall, The Hose Tower, Alonzo Hauser flag pole statue, and original Fire and Police Station. The tour related to their study of the the Great Depression and Greendale's early history in the recovery.

The Greendale Historical Society tour leaders explained how Greendale's creation helped provide housing and jobs in that troubled era.
