A Milwaukee mom who said Greendale police racially profiled her during a traffic stop, has withdrawn her complaint after video footage shown

GREENDALE, WI — A Milwaukee mom who said Greendale police racially profiled her during a traffic stop, has withdrawn her complaint after video footage shows her claims to be false.
On Friday, June 2, Katherine Torres came into the Greendale Police Department and field a complaint that she was profiled based on her race.
According to Torres, the officer who pulled her over during a traffic stop asked for her Social Security card and asked about her immigration status.

Police say they immediately began an investigation to determine whether these allegations were accurate. The Greendale Police Department currently has a policy that bans any kind of raced-based profiling, used of racially-charged language or employment discrimination.

According to police, on May 31, Greendale police officers participating in the state's Click it or Ticket initiative, and issued 34 traffic citations that date.
Acccording to police, a police sereant observed a vehicle traveling through Greendale that did not have a front license plate. The sergeant stopped the vehicle and identified Torres as the driver. Torres was reportedly issued a citation for failure to fasten her seat belt and was given verbal warning for two other apparent violations.
Durign the course of the stop, the sergeant asked Torres for a copy of her social security number, which is in line with department policy, state law and with the other traffic stops made during the Click it or Ticket enforcement.
According to police, collected Social Security data is used to determine unpaid forfeitures through the state's Tax Intercept Program.
The video released by Greendale police shows that the sergeant did not ask about Torres' immigration status.
