Greendale Student Earns Spot On State Tobacco Prevention Program
Greendale's Nawel Daadoucha is one of 23 teens from throughout Wisconsin who will serve a one-year term.

GREENDALE, WI — Nawel Daadoucha, a junior at Greendale High School, was selected to serve as a member of the State Youth Board of Directors for Wisconsin’s youth tobacco prevention program.
Organizers said that Daadoucha was selected because of her leadership skills and commitment to anti-tobacco advocacy. Founded in 2001, FACT is a youth-driven movement where teens in which students in grades 7 through 12 work together to conduct school and community-based advocacy initiatives that educate teens about the dangers of tobacco.
Since its inception, FACT members have helped lower youth smoking rates by supporting proven policies like higher tobacco taxes and smoke-free air laws. Daadoucha is one of 23 teens from throughout Wisconsin who will serve a one-year term where they will provide overall leadership, guidance and feedback to FACT.

"As a youth board member of FACT, my goal is to make my peers aware of the negative impacts of tobacco on your body,” said Daadoucha.
Each year, more than 4,000 teens in Wisconsin become new daily smokers, according to FACT. As a youth board member for FACT, Daadoucha will help to reduce that number, which will help save lives.

“I am proud of the work that our local FACT group has done to reduce teen smoking rates,” says Holly Miller, GHS FACT advisor. “However, there is still more work to be done, especially with rising e-cigarette use among teenagers, many of whom would not have tried traditional cigarettes.”
