Greendale Woman Arrested for 5th OWI

Police say incident after-hours at Walgreens led to the arrest.

GREENDALE — Police say a Greendale woman with four previous OWI convictions against her is facing another OWI charge.

June Walter, 48, faces up to 6 years behind bars or up to $20,000 in fines or both if she is convicted.

The Incident:

According to Walter's criminal complaint, Greendale police were dispatched to the Walgreens on Loomis Road on May 15 just after 10 p.m. on a report of suspicious activity.

When they arrived, a Walgreens employee noticed that Walter was in the parking lot an hour after the store closed. The employee stated that she stumbled out of her car and began slapping the glass on the front sliding door while peering inside.

The employee stated that he circled the parking lot approximately 10 times and Walter did not acknowledge his presence, the criminal complaint said.

According to the complaint, officers observed signs of intoxication and conducted field sobriety tests, which returned a BAC of 0.20, and an evidentiary blood test was conducted later that evening by St. Luke's hospital personnel, the complaint said.

Police records showed Walter had convictions in 1989, 2009 and two in 2010 for OWI.
