Inaction of Government, is Action of Goverment

Obama's Gruber Moment.

Just a few short months ago, the Supreme Court decided not to hear a case regarding gay marriage. They ruled that the lower court’s decisions would stand. This non-action on a case had a ripple effect across the country. The supporters of gay marriage saw the inaction of the Supreme Court as a huge win in their attempt to alter marriage in the United States.

Yet, in Obama’s recent immigration speech, he chastised government for inaction. To justify his actions he said, “And to those members of Congress who question my authority to make our immigration system work better or question the wisdom of me acting where Congress has failed, I have one answer: Pass a bill.” In other words, the fact that the legislature had not acted gave him authority to act outside the power of his office.

In saying this, the President believes the American people are not smart enough to realize that inaction of the legislature is action. That is to say, by not implementing or changing laws, the legislature is saying that the US will abide by the current set of laws. It has not, as Obama wants you to believe, created an absence of law or government in that area. Not unlike the Supreme Court, not taking on legislation is a tool of a working government.

He stood before you, another product of academia, and taunted the American people with a narcissistic attitude of intellectual superiority. He will gladly lie to your face because within the progressive agenda, the ends justify the means. They passed a ACA by playing on the ignorance of their supporters and why not shred the constitution in the same manner. It will need to happen if they progressive left hopes to remake America.
