Jilted Lover Cuts Off Fingertips To Frame Boyfriend: Police

WOOD COUNTY, WI — A 21-year-old Wisconsin man has reportedly cut off his own fingertips in an attempt to frame another man over a messy breakup.

Police in Wood County, Wis. are reporting that Damon J. Laru broke into his former boyfriend's home. According to media reports, Laru tried to talk to his ex about the end of their relationship. He then tried to start his ex's bed sheets on fire and cut him with a steak knife.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Wood County, Laru proceeded to cut off three of his own fingertips in an attempt to say that his ex had cut them off.

Media reports indicated that Laru attempted to assault his ex with a knife, and managed to bite him before the ex was able to escape and call 911.

According to police reports, the victim went to the emergency room to get his injuries treated. That's about the same time Laru arrived to receive medical care for his own self-inflicted wounds.

Laru was subsequently arrested. He's being held in jail on a $30,000 cash bond.
