Last Chance to Visit "Animation: Art Goes to the Movies" Exhibit at Milwaukee Art Museum

Back to school is just around the corner, and kids will be heading back to class. Before they do, Milwaukee Art Museum is inviting families to stop into the Kohl’s Art Generation Gallery, as the current exhibit, “Animation: Art Goes to the Movies,” will soon be gone for good!

The exhibit, which explores how animators of today’s most popular movies draw inspiration from historical works of art, has quickly become a family favorite. Children and families can discover how paintings, sculptures and other pieces have inspired movies such as Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Disney*Pixar’s The Incredibles and DreamWorks’ Madagascar. Then, they can bring their own characters to life by sketching, creating flipbooks, trying their hands at stop motion animation, and more! The Kohl’s Art Generation Gallery is open during regular Museum hours, and kids 12 and under get into the Museum for free. The “Animation: Art Goes to the Movies” exhibit ends Labor Day, making way for a new exhibit coming this fall.

While at the museum, kids and families are invited to explore the rest of the Kohl’s Education Center—a fun, interactive space designed to give kids an appreciation for art through participation in exciting, creative and hands-on projects. Part of the Kohl's Art Generation program, this space is made possible through $6.3 million from Kohl's Cares and Kohl's Department Stores to the Milwaukee Art Museum.
