Mary Burke: The Democrats Frankenstein Monster
When a thirst for power rather than societal betterment guides your agenda.

Wisconsin has seen its fair share of politics over the last few years. State elections, national election and even recall elections have flooded our TVs, mailboxes and social media pages. However, the battle for Wisconsin’s Governor has been at the forefront of all of those elections. Every candidate since Scott Walker signed Act 10 into law has based his/her platform around Walkers actions.
Usually the state has seen a candidate present a policy that is a strongly held belief. Either for or against Scott Walker, the political platforms laid before the voting public have been policies the candidates themselves endorse and would govern by. We understood Tom Barrett’s platform when he ran for governor and David Clark nationally vocalized his thoughts on public policy. Of these, the message that appears to be winning is the conservative one and it has stirred anger within the liberals in Wisconsin. An anger that created the recalls, created an occupy movement inside the state capital and has now created Mary Burke.
Mary Burke’s campaign strategy looks more like the work of Dr. Frankenstein. The leaders of the Wisconsin Democratic Party realized the traditional Madison liberal had little chance of success in a state wide election. As a result, we are learning they opted to splice together a candidate using the empty shell of Burke and political platforms from the parts of dead campaigns.

The problem is in presenting this creation to the Wisconsin public, with their clunky candidate, they assumed Burke could be credited with the work. As if Frankenstein’s monster could claim the body parts as his own. Burke’s backers could care less about the unholyness of her candidacy as they scream ‘It’s Alive’ to what they hope is a new wave of political power in Wisconsin. Driven by anger and the desire for power, Wisconsin liberals once again show their lack of concern for Wisconsin, but rather a need to only win at any cost.
So in walks this a political monster. Yet, unlike Frankenstein’s creation, the pitch fork carrying crowd with its irrational fear and need to destroy what they don’t understand; actually marches in lock step with this political beast. The Wisconsin Democrats intense hatred for Scott Walker out weighs any notion that a candidate must actually have knowledge of issues currently facing the state. Burke’s run for governor is not about benefiting the future of the state, its about removing a governor who is.
