Now what GOP?
Republicans and Democrats alike irrationally look toward Washington DC for a coming messiah.

As we analyze and probe the great Republican wave of 2014, the focus because what does the Republican party do next. They have retaken the legislature of the national government and believe that 2014 is an indictment on Obama policy. Those right of center politically wait with baited breath as a new dawn of conservatives appears to be rolling across the country.
What they forget is that we only have a new dawn because the GOP screwed the pooch last time they had control of congress. Why is 2014 different? Are we that confident that a neutered group of Republicans will actually stand up against the false accusations of racism, misogyny or bigotry they have faced since the rise of Obama? Are they truly expected to roll back the progressive agenda Obama has poisoned us with? Not sure how that is possible when much of this victory is about people unsatisfied with Obama and not a tide of Republican acceptance.
I believe the rejoicing of a Senate win only plays into the failing that government can fix our problems. Sure we elected Republicans, people that at least wear the sheepskin of conservatism, but have rarely done anything to reduce the power of government. We only feed that narcissism by getting all goo goo eyed when we elect them back into power. After the dust settles, this crew will settle into the impotence of recurring election cycles and return to being ‘Democrats in slow motion’. (quote borrowed from Limbaugh caller)

The true push of national conservatives should not be in pressuring the centralized government to save us from centralized government; but rather we should focus on our own conservative governors to regulate the intrusiveness of the federal government. Rather than asking an engorged bureaucracy to self purge, let’s take back our constitutional states rights.
The battle for a future, free from the deadly effects of progressive’s big government, can only begin from outside the behemoth. Our constitution provides the states with the ability to to collectively force the hand of the federal government . In doing so, they could return the power of the government to the people, rather than the clogged mess of egos that currently occupy the halls of the Capital Building.

Conservatives looking towards Washington for the answers only propagate the the progressive notion that a bloated national government can be our savior. While they might be wishing for the newly elected GOP to correct the liberal sins of this and previous administrations; governmental contraction is something that only exists in theory. The only solution for a stable future in the US is to make large section of the federal government irrelevant by retaking states rights, not retaking the Senate.
Lets start by repealing the 17th amendment.
