GREENDALE, WI — Greendale Police Captain Ryan Rosenow has been chosen as the next Greendale Police Chief.

Rosenow, a 20-year veteran of the police department, succeeds Chief Robert Malasuk, who retires on Jan. 5.

Rosenow was awarded a commendation and meritorious service medal in earlier 2017 for his actions during a March 11 incident in which a semi truck rolled onto its side, leaking liquids and fuel onto the road. The driver was stuck inside the truck and Rosenow climbed onto the truck, opened the door, and assisted the driver to safety.

Rosenow did this while the truck was overturned on a busy highway, despite the risk of fire or explosion from the leaking fuel and oil.

According to Greendale Police, Rosenow started with the Greendale Police Department in December of 1997. He spent a large part of his career in the Detective Bureau.

Rosenow will have his swearing-in ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 4 at the police department.
