A woman living in the 8800 block of Greenview Lane contacted Greendale police officers in June after she found her 14 karat wedding and a gold ring with a ruby stone had gone missing from her home. She told officers she took the rings off on June 8, then her son had some people over and a few days later she noticed the rings were missing.

The wedding ring was valued at $4,000 and the gold and ruby ring was valued at $1,500 to $2,000.

Officers learned Dielehner and a woman had been among those at the house and on Sept. 2, the woman was arrested carrying the wedding ring in her purse. She told officers Dielehner had stolen the rings from the home.

Dielehner went to the Greendale Police Departement on Oct. 2 and turned himself in for the crime. He told officers he saw the rings while going to the bathroom in the house and decided to take them. He planned to sell the rings on Craigslist, but he saw the victim’s son had posted on Facebook that the rings had gone missing and police were involved, so he decided against it.

Dielehner will make his initial appearance in court Thursday.
