2 Dead In House Fire: Report

As crews began to work their way through the house to quell the fire, they found both elderly adults on the first floor.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Authorities in Milwaukee say to people are dead after a house fire on the city's north side Monday.

According to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's office, to elderly adults were reported deceased while at the scene early Monday.

According to a CBS 58 report, the Milwaukee Fire Department was called to a home near N. 25th St. and W. Melvina St. just after 3 a.m. on a report of a fire in the home's basement.

Fire officials said the fire started in the basement, and then spread to the home's first floor. As crews began to work their way through the house to quell the fire, they found both elderly adults on the first floor. The were non-responsive.

Their names are being withheld by authorities pending notification of family members. The cause of the fire has yet to be released, and investigators are continuing to learn about the cause and nature of the fire.
