$3.5 Million School District Tech Plan Moves Forward

The Greenfield School District will make an unprecedented commitment to technology over the next four years.

The School Board on May 20 voted in favor of the administration’s suggestion to put in motion a $3.5 million technology upgrade plan designed to bring to scale the district’s technology availability and use.

The plan calls for the use of fund balance money over a four-year period, starting with the hiring of a learning design facilitator to lead the charge. That person would have a network design and maintenance background but would also be required to lead the district throughout the design and implementation of update effort, including overseeing the student learning connection.

The plan includes upgrades and additions to the technology infrastructure, addressing hardware and software needs and staff development.

“This plan will absolutely change the opportunities the kids have and the hands-on ability,” Interim Superintendent David Ewald said. “No matter who they are, they’ll have access to technology.”
