After Closing Notice, Rush of Adoptions at MKE Animal Rescue Center
The Milwaukee animal rescue's "immediate focus" is to find homes for the animals still residing in the shelter.
The Milwaukee Animal Rescue Center in Greenfield saw a rush of adoptions following the announcement that it will soon close its doors due to mounting costs.
There were over a dozen notices of adoption posted on Milwaukee ARC's Facebook page Tuesday, as supporters rushed to help place rescued animals that still needed homes. The announcement listed this as the "immediate focus" of the closing process.

"We are very proud of all that we have accomplished," reads the closure announcement by Amy Rowell. "We simply feel that the available community resources should be directed towards animal care and programming instead of property maintenance and overhead."
According to Milwaukee Magazine, "Milwaukee ARC has operated since 2005, with the goal of securing permanent placement for homeless animals while helping other agencies find animal euthanasia alternatives."
