Alverno College Will Hold its 156th Commencement on December 16

This marks the first time since 2008 ceremonies for both master's candidates and undergraduates will be held the same day.

Alverno College will hold its 156th commencement on December 16 as 57 master’s candidates and 136 students walk across the Pitman Theatre stage to receive their degrees. The graduate ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m., followed by a reception. The undergraduate ceremony will take place at 2:00 p.m., and will also be followed by a reception. This is the first time since December 2008 that ceremonies for both master’s candidates and undergraduates will be held the same day.

Commencement activities for undergraduates will begin on Friday, December 15 with a Baccalaureate Mass at 4:00 p.m. in the Alverno College chapel, followed by a dinner for degree candidates and their families. The undergraduate commencement introduction will be given by Jennifer Langoehr, who will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Community Leadership and Development. The undergraduate invocation will be given by Rebecca von Stockhausen, who will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education, with a support in Mathematics. The student address, “Taking Flight Towards New Adventures,” will be given by Qurrat-Ul-Ain Ghaffar, who will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a support in Psychology. The graduate commencement invocation will be given by Sahar Qureshi, who will receive a Master of Business Administration. Langoehr is a Milwaukee resident, Ghaffar lives in Mequon, and von Stockhausen and Qureshi are from Oak Creek.
