
Alverno College's Meranda Masse has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Women's Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week for events of Sept. 9-15, as selected by the league's sports information directors.
Masse (Antioch, Ill.) broke Alverno's single-match record with 44 assists in a win over Finlandia University Friday, which eclipsed the previous mark by one.
The rookie setter averaged 9.37 assists per set leading the Inferno (7-4, 1-0 NACC) to a 5-0 week in which it snapped a 78-match conference losing streak, tied the school wins record and extended its winning-streak to seven.

This award is just the second time in the program's 14-year history an Inferno player has been honored with a weekly conference accolade, as Eren Turn collected Lake Michigan Conference Player of the Week honors in 2004 for events of Sept. 6-12.
