Artist Displays Colorful Range Of Paintings At Greenfield Library
Art from John Suess, who spent 34 years working in the Milwaukee Public Library System, is on display at the Greenfield Public Library.

GREENFIELD, WI β Until the end of January, the second floor of the Greenfield Public Library will be full of colorful paintings and other artworks that have a style the creator describes as "impressionist, tonalism and color field, with some realism," according to a news release.
Over 20 unique works from John Suess will be on display at the library, 5310 West Layton Avenue. Suess, a Milwaukee-based artist who primarily works in acrylic and occasionally oil, has had a lifelong love of art. His favorite subjects are landscapes, especially those that use local scenery, a news release said.
The art can be seen as library patrons make their way up the main staircase. Pieces at the exhibition include a selection from Suess' Road Trips series, which features rural scenes from locations across southeastern Wisconsin. The exhibition also includes a grouping of landscapes, many based on local scenes, plus a variety of floral paintings, according to the news release.

βI find my inspiration outdoors," Suess said in a news release. "While working in my garden, playing golf, or taking a walk or drive, I will often be captivated by the beauty of nature and stop to capture it with my camera. Then, Iβll make it come back to life on canvas."
Suess's history with art goes back to when he was 3 years old, which is when he began drawing and painting. He worked in the Milwaukee library system for 34 years before retiring in 2007 and has since created 150 unique works, including several that were commissioned.

"After the last two years we have all had, it is nice to be able to visit places and interact with others again. Itβs long overdue and I hope many will check it out."
