Attempted Car Theft Leads To Pursuit + Thefts From Gym Lockers: Police

GREENFIELD, WI — An apparent attempted theft of a car on the 4900 block of Cold Spring Road on March 29 led to two police pursuits and someone being taken into custody, according to the latest Greenfield Police Department logs.
Someone in the area told police around 3 a.m. two people had smashed the windows on a car and seemed to be trying to steal it, logs say. Police pursued a Hyundai they saw fleeing from the scene, but the chase was ended near 27th Street and Forest Home Avenue.
Another vehicle that police say fled the scene, a Kia that had previously been reported stolen, was also pursued, logs say. Eventually, the West Allis Police Department took over for the pursuit and the car was found abandoned by the Wauwatosa Police Department near 93rd Street and Bluemound, logs say.

Police brought in a dog unit to search the area and the logs say the suspected driver of the Kia was taken into custody. The suspect was released to a parent with an order for Children's Court, police say.

- Somone on the 4000 block of 35th Street told police on March 29 both of their vehicles were damaged the night prior, including broken windows, but the caller was unsure at first if anything was missing, according to logs.
- Multiple thefts from lockers were reported to police by Planet Fitness at 4478 108th Street on March 29, according to logs. The thefts were in the men's locker room, logs say.
- A resident on the 5000 block of 55th Street told police on April 1 someone had broken into their garage, smeared paint on the walls and stole fireworks, according to logs.
- On Saturday, police chased an SUV driven by a woman who was possibly related in an earlier retail theft , according to logs. The woman's car had fled west onto Layton Avenue, logs say, but because of the lower visibility conditions, the pursuit was ended.
