Alverno Takes 13th At Warrior Invite

WEST ALLIS, Wis. -- The Alverno College Inferno placed 13th at the Warrior Invitational  hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College at Greenfield Park this afternoon.

Taylor Volbrecht led the Inferno with a 67th-place finish in a field of over 100 competitors. The rookie completed the 6K course in 29 minutes, 39.1 seconds, just 8.1 seconds off her previous best in the 6K this season.

Jamie Hoernke and Kayla Kennedy followed at 30:31.2 and 30:56.7, while Abby Kennedy crossed the finish line at 31:41.7.

Alyssa Blom put up her best 6K time of the season, as she trimmed off 25 seconds for a 31:41.7 stretch, while fellow freshman Jeanette Alonso knocked nearly 5 minutes off her best with a 36:39.3 finish.

The Inferno totaled 337 points and finished in front of one team in the 14-team field, while Trinity Christian College won the women's event with a score of 42. Wisconsin Lutheran's Mary Erickson was the top individual finisher with a time of 23:07.0.

Alverno gets back to action next week as they return to Leeson Park in Beloit for the Wisconsin Private College Championships on Saturday.
