MILWAUKEE -- Alverno College's Megan Rossi and Jamie Villalobos were named the Northern Athletics Conference Position Player and Pitching Softball Student-Athletes of the Week for games of March 18-24, as selected by the league's sports information directors.
Playing in her first college game in her home state, Rossi (Hammond, Ind./Morton) hit 3-for-5 in Alverno's 13-11 nightcap victory over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. The sophomore third baseman smashed a three-run homer in the Inferno's eight-run seventh inning, and led all batters with four RBIs.
In her 4-1 complete-game loss to Saint Mary, Villalobos (Antioch, Ill.) scattered seven hits, didn't walk a batter and fanned three. The senior southpaw entered game two in relief and pitched the final 4.2 innings for the victory with three more Ks and no walks for her fourth win of the season.
