Annual Tree-Lighting in Hales Corners is Fast Arriving

The Hales Corners tree-lighting celebration is a holiday favorite for the community.

People of all ages will gather at the Hales Corners Library on Dec. 1, for the annual tree-lighting celebration that gets underway at 6 p.m.

As the community comes together in the lower lot of the library, 5885 S. 116th St., the night starts off as the Hales Corners Village President Bob Ruesch flips the switch that will light the community Christmas tree. The evening continues on while the Whitnall Middle School band plays familiar Christmas tunes for the people to enjoy as they wait for Santa to arrive.

Santa will give the reindeer a day off; he'll travel to the library by way of fire truck. As he arrives with the fire truck lights flashing, and sirens screaming, he will be available to take pictures with the children, and spread the holiday cheer.

A Whitnall High School senior said, β€œI always enjoyed going as a child. Santa arriving on the fire truck was easily the highlight of the night.”

The festivities will continue inside, where children’s librarian Miss Beth will read classic Christmas tails for the youth to enjoy, while munching on delicious home-baked cookies, and enjoying beverages.

β€œEach year, my family and I go to the tree-lighting ceremony because it’s something that brings us together, and really gets us in the holiday spirit,” shared senior Brekahn Gasvoda.

At the end of all of this, the children are able to visit with Santa, and tell him their wish list for Christmas.

This is a perfect way for the community to come together to share the Christmas spirit. It is open for anyone in the community to stop by and enjoy themselves.Β
