Coffee Grounds in the Garden

Do you brew your own coffee at home? What to do with the used coffee grounds after you are done?

You can use your leftover brewed coffee grounds as an alternative fertilizer. Your tomato plants will love you for it and show there appreciation with beautiful fruit.
Used coffee grounds have nutrients that help to support healthy tomato plants, namely acids and nitrogen.

It also aids in repelling insects and slugs. It does attract worms, which can be very helpful to loosens the soil and help the plant take in more water and oxygen to the roots.

You can add used coffee grounds, sprinkled lightly to all your fruiting tomato plants. Mixing it into the top 1/4 of the soil as not to disturb the roots. This can be done weekly. 

Any grounds left over can be stored in a old bucket in the garage until needed during the growing season.

Say you have some left over coffee still in the pot from this morning?? Dilute what may be left over in the pot with cold water by 1/2. So if you have two cups leftover, you will now have three cups of cold coffee. This can also be applied to your tomato plants. Applying cold coffee to your plants can be done a couple times in a month, as not to increase too much acid in the soil.
