WAUKEGAN, Ill. -- Visiting Alverno College snapped a three-game skid with a 4-1 nonconference victory over the host Eagles of Robert Morris University-Lake Country this afternoon at Waukegan Sports Park.

Andrea Bowhall kicked off the Inferno scoring just into the seventh minute, as her free kick from about 25 yards out sailed past the goalkeeper's outstretched arms.

Neysel Powell put the Inferno (4-10 overall) on the board a second time as she came out of a scrum with a clean shot in front of the goal and found the back of the net. Her second goal of the season -- which proved to be the game winner -- came in the 16th minute.

Though Alverno fired off many more shots in the period (19 shots, 11 on goal), the team was unable to add to its 2-0 halftime lead.

In the second half Bryanna Gayle put the visitors up 3-0 with goal in the 67th minute off a double pass by Rebecca Fuentes and Bowhall, but three minutes later the Eagles (0-11 overall) made good on their only shot of the game to end the Inferno's shutout bid.

In the final minute, Brittany Carpenter found Yessy Lopez just outside the post and Lopez's diving touch-kick rolled underneath the goalkeeper for her first score of the season, and the Inferno's fourth of the game.

The Inferno outshot the Eagles 39-1, which included 20-1 in shots on goal.

Alverno returns to the field on Saturday as it hosts Edgewood College in a Northern Athletics Conference contest at 12 p.m. at Alverno Field.
