Inferno Falls Victim In Eagles' Title-Clinching Match

The visiting Alverno College Inferno fell to host Edgewood College, 3-0, tonight in a Northern Athletics Conference match at the Todd Wehr Edgedome this evening.

MADISON, Wis. -- The visiting Alverno College Inferno fell to host Edgewood College, 3-0, tonight in a Northern Athletics Conference match at the Todd Wehr Edgedome this evening.

Alverno got off to a rough start and lost the opening set by a score of 25-9, followed it with a 25-14 second-set loss, and finally lost the third set, 25-9.

The host Eagles has just six attack errors throughout the match and finished with a .394 attack percentage, while the Inferno committed 23 attack errors on the night for a -.038 attack percentage.

Cali TreppΒ led Alverno with six of the team's 20 kills on the offensive side of the net, whileΒ Emma OrtnerΒ led the defensive side with a match-high eight digs.Β Reagan Owenadded a team-high 15 assists.

The Eagles (23-5, 11-1 NAC) won their 11th conference match of the season and clinched at least a share of the NAC title, while the Inferno (3-20, 0-10 NAC) lost its 10-straight match.

Alverno returns to action tomorrow night in its final home match of the season. The Inferno hosts Maranatha Baptist at 6 p.m., also the Inferno's Senior Night, where the team will honor its lone senior, Owen.
