Inferno Routs Regents In Conference Victory

Four different Inferno players scored as visiting Alverno College shut out host Rockford College, 7-0, this afternoon at Sam Greeley Field.

ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Four different Inferno players scored as visiting Alverno College shut out host Rockford College, 7-0, this afternoon at Sam Greeley Field.

Rebecca FuentesΒ scored the game's first goal in the 18th minute, whileΒ Nava Moniriarani(41') andΒ Bryanna GayleΒ (43') each added another in the final minutes of the first half for the 3-0 halftime lead.

The Inferno outshot the Regents, 14-4, in the opening period, which included a 9-2 shots on goal advantage.

Andrea BowhallΒ scored the first of the second half in the game's 48th minute to extend the Inferno's lead to 4-0, and Moniriarani (61'), Gayle (63') and Fuentes (66') each netted their second goals of contest for the 7-0 final.

Kaitlyn GallinattiΒ assisted on two goals, and Fuentes, Gayle andΒ Brittany CarpenterΒ each assisted a score as well.

Samantha RobinsonΒ kept the Regents' attack at bay as she recorded four saves at goal for the Inferno in her third shutout of the season.

The Inferno picked up its first Northern Athletics Conference victory of the season, while the Regents (1-12, 0-10 NAC) are still winless in league play.

Alverno's next contest is on Saturday as it hosts Marian University at 2 p.m. at Alverno Field.
