Just Keep Giving, Just Keep Giving Blood

Whitnall High School blood drive is approaching once again.

On March 1, at Whitnall High School, students and staff will be holding their blood drive and donating to the Blood Center of Wisconsin.

They’ve been doing the blood drive for many years, and the student senate has always made it a big hit with their constant reminders and enthusiastic themes. The fall blood drive had a theme of Scooby-Doo; this one will be Finding Nemo.

Teacher Taylor Townsend, who’s been in charge of the blood drive for the last three years said, β€œThey’ll be playing Finding Nemo and having fish-themed snacks this year. Such as goldfish and Swedish fish.”

Along with this fabulous theme come the snacks. Snacks are important to every high school student so they really try their hardest to provide the best snacks.

Many of the students have donated blood before. Senior Jamie Wunrow has donated six times throughout his high school career and he even donates outside of school.

Besides amazing themes and snacks, there’s another reason why students donate. Lani Tempel a senior at Whitnall says, β€œIt’s a good cause.”

Many people would agree that donating blood is a very good cause especially because for every person that donates it saves three lives.

They are happy to be β€œone of the consistent top donors in the area” as explained by Ms. Townsend. With the blood drive drawing near, the student senate is preparing and working hard to have another successful blood drive.
