MILWAUKEE -- The visiting Marian University Sabres scored four first-half goals and defeated host Alverno College, 7-2, Saturday afternoon at Alverno Field.
After the Sabres (8-8, 8-3 Northern Athletics Conference) led 5-0, the Inferno (5-12, 1-10 NAC) finally answered with its first score of the game.
In the 76th minute,Β Amber ThomasΒ found herself open in front of the goal and pushed the ball to the back left side of the net for her second goal of the season.

Just two minutes later the Sabers answered with their sixth goal of the contest to push the cushion back to five, 6-1.
However, the Inferno'sΒ Nava MoniriaraniΒ netted her 11th goal of the season in the 78th minute on a deep ball from about 30 yards out of the left side of the field to bring the lead back to four.

The Sabres answered, again, with the final score of the game in the 83rd minute for the 7-2 final.
Morgan Ansems and Leisa Conn led Marian -- who outshot Alverno, 26-8 -- with two goals apiece.
Samantha RobinsonΒ recorded nine saves in all 90 minutes at goal for the Inferno.
Alverno concludes conference play next week at Wisconsin Lutheran College. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. next Tuesday, Oct. 23.
