Milwaukee Animal Rescue Center pet of the week: Abbey Rose

Abbey Rose was our featured adoptable back in November, and believe it or not, she's still looking for her family! When she joined the adoption program at Milwaukee Animal Rescue Center last fall, she had just been released from a pretty bad situation and needed to learn how to trust humans. Luckily for her, Abbey Rose was paired with a fantastic and compassionate foster home and she has made tremendous strides and is turning into a great and loving dog.

A note from Abbey's foster mom: 

"I am Abbey Rose's foster mom and wanted to share some of the things that I love most about Abbey. She is incredibly sweet, gentle, and loving. She warms up quickly to new faces and greets us so enthusiastically at the door every time we come home (even if I just had to go get something from the car) that it makes everyone feel special.

Abbey loves naps, and after her exuberant greetings and a walk, she loves to lie next to me and watch me work on homework or sit in the kitchen while I cook. She does not love toys, but she will snuggle with her plushies and lick them (it's very cute)! She mostly loves being around her humans and loving them, which is hard not to love.

I think the single most amazing thing about Abbey is her resilience. She has obviously survived her share of trauma, but she is so full of love that it is remarkable."

It's clear to see what a special girl Abbey is. Her ideal home will welcome her as the only pet and allow her time and patience to acclimate to her new family. Abbey brings so much joy into the lives of the people she meets - you could be next!

If you are interested in meeting this gentle lady, return your application to the Center during open hours or by fax, 414-421-8801, to set up a meeting with the foster parent. All adoptable dogs are housed in volunteer foster homes and available for meetings by appointment only. Most adoptable cats are housed at the Center and available to meet during open hours.

Those interested in potential adoption should plan to arrive at the Center at least 30 minutes prior to close so the adoption counselor has adequate time to devote to the visit.

The generosity of our foster families allow us to save precious lives like Abbey's and give second chances to animals who need it.
