Milwaukee Animal Rescue Center Pet of the Week: Milton
This sweet senior is really special, and he needs a really special place to call home.
Milton is a 17 years young handsome fella who recently joined the Milwaukee Animal Rescue Center family and is ready to find a family to join forever! Milton was left behind in late March when his family moved east. A friend of his family assumed care and the task of finding Milton a new home, with a deadline of 4/11/13. Euthanasia was scheduled for that afternoon. We were approached by Milton's caretaker and initially declined intake, along with every other humane society she reached out to.
But we couldn't stop thinking about him.

Our team discussed Milton at length, many times. We reviewed the facts:
- social
- low-maintenance
- recent dental
- excellent bloodwork
- overall a really healthy kid, aside from a pill he takes twice daily to control a thyroid condition that has been stable for over ten years.
We knew what we had to do. Although it may be difficult to match him with a family, we won't stop trying! Milton may be a long term resident, we recognize that, and we will shower him with love daily and provide a quiet perch in a sunny window. There's a home for everyone! Senior kids are no different, and we're confident that a compassionate person or family will read his story, recognize how special he is, and welcome him into their home to live out the rest of his days. (Or, as we predict and hope, years!) He is a super sweet kid who is grateful for each and every day, each and every snuggle, and each and every person who continues to make his care possible.

Our overall philosophy dictates that healthy and/or treatable animals be allowed to live, and we will exhaust all efforts to make sure that happens for as many animals as we can reasonably support at every point in time. Milton was scheduled to die on April 11, 2013, but today, he lives.
If you can't adopt, please share Milton's story to help this sweet senior find the loving home he so deserves, and consider making a tax-deductible donation toward his care at milwaukeearc.org.

UPDATE: After months of searching for her person, Abbey Rose chose a fantastic family and is doing great! Another pair of longterm residents, Morgan and Miranda, also found their people. We couldn't be more pleased - a great week at Milwaukee Animal Rescue Center!
