Oops I Did it Again, With Ginger

How to grow ginger from a piece you purchased at the grocery store.

Ever have this happen? You purchased fresh ginger and it started to grow. Well, guess what? If you break off that piece and plant it in some soil, keep it slightly moist, and VOILA...you are now growing ginger in your own home.

It can be planted outdoors; just remember it takes ginger 8-9 months to grow. When the plant dies back and the leaves yellow, that is when you are ready to harvest. Remember that you will be only using the tuber as that is where the ginger is. They CANNOT survive in Wisconsin winters, so before the snow flies, dig it up, replant in potting soil and bring it indoors into a sunny location.
