Stars Outshine Inferno, 4-0

Host Dominican University defeated Alverno College, 4-0, this afternoon in a Northern Athletics Conference contest.

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Host Dominican University defeated Alverno College, 4-0, this afternoon in a Northern Athletics Conference contest.

The Inferno (2-5, 0-4 NAC) held even with the Stars (3-5, 2-1 NAC) for nearly 34 minutes of play, but Leah Tednes put the host team up 1-0 with a goal in the 34th minute.

The score would remain 1-0 at the halftime break, as the Inferno defense held the rest of the half.

Early in the second period, the Stars would add another goal in the 50th minute, and took control of the game with scores in the 73rd and 87th minutes as well.

The Alverno defense and goalkeeper Samantha Robinson had a busy day as the Stars fired off 34 shots. Robinson tallied a season-high 17 saves in the game.

Alverno returns to the field on Saturday, as it hosts Concordia University Wisconsin at 12 p.m.
