Warriors Serve Up Sweep Over Inferno

MILWAUKEE -- Host Wisconsin Lutheran College served up 10 aces and visiting Alverno College committed seven service errors en route to 3-0 decision in favor of the Warriors, this afternoon at the Recreation Complex.

The Inferno dropped to 3-17 overall and 0-8 in Northern Athletics Conference play, while the Warriors improved to an even 11-11, 4-4 in league play.

Wisconsin Lutheran used a .379 attack percentage (13 kills, 2 errors) in the opening set for a 25-12 advantage over the Inferno, which committed seven errors and had seven kills.

The hosts took a 2-0 match lead with a 25-16 second-set win, and completed the sweep with a close 25-22 victory in the final frame.

The Inferno outhit the Warriors in the final set -- .229 to .148 -- but it wasn't enough to pull out the win.

Emma Ortner and Cali Trepp led the Inferno attack with eight and seven kills, whileDaryl Sigh chipped in five.

Defensively Ortner led three visitors in double-digit digs with 16, while Trepp andChelsea Gulbronson dug 10.

Alverno takes a break from league play as it hosts Mount Mary College on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in a nonconference tilt.
