What Bookaholics Get Excited About
Three reasons why my Tuesday was excellently exciting.
I had an exciting day yesterday! Three big things happened that, for a bookaholic like myself, are the height of any day.
1. I saw a tweet that the book Shatter Me byΒ Tahereh Mafi was free to read online for the coming 62 hours. Curious, I clicked the link and started to read. (Check it out here.) I was positively hooked within 12 pages. The story revolves around Juliette, a 17-year-old young woman who has been locked up in an asylum for the past three years. She hasn't spoken a word to anyone in over 250 days and she hasn't touched anyone in over three years. And then a boy is sent into her cell; her roommate, she is told. Juliette seems to know Cellmate, as she refers to him at first, but won't allow herself to remember just who, exactly, he is. At least not at first.
Shatter Me is a fast paced adventure in a dystopian future where the world is broken into 3,333 segments of power. Juliette has a strange and frightening power, which makes her a highly-sought after young woman, as least to one powerfully dangerous young many. She finds herself forced to make a decision to either be a weapon in his hands or to roll the dice and follow a future that she never thought would be possible for her.Β

I started reading the book online yesterday and wound up going out last night and purchasing a copy. I finished it before going to sleep. This book grabbed me by the heart and the gut and I am so excited for the second book, Unravel Me, due out February 5.Β
2. Yesterday afternoon, I entered a contest on Twitter sponsored byΒ Penguin Books. The entry was to win a copy ofΒ ο»ΏThe Dark Rose, and I was bouncing-in-my-chair-excited when I was chosen as a winner! The book looks really intriguing and I canβt wait to receive and read my prize.

3. Shortly after learning about my Penguin Books contest win, I learned that I was also a winner from FUOnlyKnewβs blog giveaway for a copy of Eternal Island by Ella Medler and Kristie Haigwood!
So many good things β and books β came my way yesterday! What was good, great, or exciting about your Tuesday?
