Whitnall Students Inducted Into National Honor Society

Inductees were welcomed into the prestigious organization recently.

Whitnall High School juniors in exceptional academic standing were inducted into the National Honor Society on Wednesday, April 24, in the high school auditorium.

The National Honor Society, or NHS, is an organization that prides itself on four ideals: scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Juniors were chosen for NHS on the basis of their grade point averages and involvement in activities, among other criteria.

At the induction ceremony Wednesday night, junior inductees were officially welcomed into the organization by outgoing senior members. Advisers Laura Cerletty and Mark Nowakowski were there, along with an auditorium filled with proud parents and family members. Dinner followed, catered by That’s Amore.

“You’ve got big shoes to fill,” high school principal Jackie Winter commented to the new inductees at the ceremony. “But I’m confident that you all can do it.”

In NHS, students participate in service activities in the community, including the back-to-school block party, the Hales Corners Christmas tree lighting, and numerous other events.
