Whitnall Takes the iPad Initiative to Improve Education
Whitnall students and staff are adjusting to life with iPads.
In September 2012, the for the new iPad Initiative, a program that allows students and teachers to enhance the curriculum and improve classroom experience.
According to the director of educational technology, Eric Gran, each iPad costs around $450. The school district purchased around 500 iPads last year alone for each grade to share this school year.
Students at Whitnall High School think it’s a great investment.

“I think it was a good investment because they are good tools to help us in class and they make learning fun,” junior Austin Seivers said.
The school district thought that students would benefit more from iPads versus textbooks because the iPads are dynamic in a sense that information changes and it's better to stay up to date by using the internet on the iPads.

Apparently, the iPads were a necessary buy because the federal government wants to eliminate all paper materials from school by 2017. The Whitnall School district is looking to buy another 575 iPads this summer.
The iPad initiative is changing the way students learn in class, and changes the way teachers teach. Overall, Whitnall High School and its student body are advancing in technology.
