Brookfield Man Accused of Stealing $27,000 in Items From Greenfield Site

The suspect allegedly stole tens of thousands of dollars worth of faucets and metal, which he then scrapped at West Allis Salvage for less than $3,000.

A 38-year-old Brookfield man is facing charges after he allegedly stole nearly $27,000 in supplies from a Greenfield remodeling company.

Nathan W. Madsen was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Friday with one count of theft of more than $10,000. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison and $25,000 in fines.

On March 1, David Madsen, the owner of contacted police after company officials noticed numerous items missing from the warehouse. Missing items included 50 to 60 faucets valued at $20,000, 30 showerheads and arms valued at $3,600, drain pop-up levers, valve bodies, and copper fittings and pipe.

The total value of the missing items was estimated at $26,980.

A company manager told police he saw Nathan Madsen taking four Moen faucet boxes out of a storage area and when confronted, he told the manager he was taking them to a job site. When confronted about it later, Nathan Madsen told David Madsen the boxes were empty.

At a recent job site, another supervisor spotted six more faucet boxes inside Nathan Madsen’s van, which was also suspicious because as an installer, Nathan Madsen did not need need to have that many boxes in his van.

David Madsen told police he suspected Nathan Madsen in the thefts.

Investigators then contacted West Allis Salvage where they discovered between Jan. 1 and March 19, Nathan Madsen had sold 1,288 pound of brass, 787 pounds of sheet iron, three cast iron stoves and 37 pounds of copper. In all, Madsen sold 3,024 pounds of scrap metal to the company for a total of $2,975.

On March 22, Madsen was confronted about the thefts and admitted to selling items to West Allis Salvage.

Madsen will make his initial appearance in court May 17.
