Consolidation Would Not Happen Overnight
Discussions to consolidate departments with neighboring municipalities continues, but nothing would happen immediately.

With shrinking budgets impacting nearly every state municipality, there has been more and more .
Whether you are for or against it - those against it often feel a sense of territorialism or that it strips a community of its identity - it often takes awhile, sometimes years, before departments merge across municipalities.
At Wednesday's Finance and Human Resource Committee meeting, committee members and other city officials discussed consolidation, as they have at many previous meetings.

When asked about a possible consolidation timeline, Mayor Michael Neitzke said it takes two years for libraries who voluntarily want to consolidate to get it done, subject to Library Board review, and added that the North Shore Fire Department needed three years of planning before joining forces.
So, someday become the GreenCornersKlin Fire Department, that day won't be tomorrow.
