Corrections Officer Fires Gun in Greenfield, Lies To Police

A Milwaukee County Jail probationary correctional officer was arrested last night by the Greenfield Police Department.

GREENFIELD, WI — A Milwaukee County Jail probationary correctional officer was arrested last night by the Greenfield Police Department.

According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's office, Timothy J. Jennings, age 30, of Greenfield, initially called the Greenfield police to report that someone shot into his apartment.

According to Greenfield Police, officers responded to a 911 report of a bullet that entered an apartment in the 3300 Block of South 100th Street. The caller stated a bullet had come through the open window of his apartment, struck a table and lodged in a wall.

Officers checked adjacent apartments for possible victims, evacuated the building and began searching for a suspect.

After additional questioning, the man reportedly admitted he had fired his own gun inside his apartment and fabricated the story. He was arrested for Endangering Safety by Use of a Dangerous Weapon and Obstructing an Officer.

Greenfield police reported that the suspect was a 30 year old Greenfield man. During questioning he indicated he is employed as a correctional officer for the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office.

This matter is still under investigation and will be reviewed by the Milwaukee County District Attorney on Tuesday, June 27, 2017.

According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's office, Jennings has been terminated from his employment with the Sheriff’s Office.
