DNA Evidence Helps Police Crack Greenfield Burglary Case: Report
Authorities in Greenfield say a five-year-old burglary case at a local office building has led to a Waukesha man being charged.

GREENFIELD, WI — Authorities in Greenfield say a five-year-old burglary case at a local office building has led to a Waukesha man being charged. with the crime after DNA evidence left at the scene connects him with the crime.
Court records show that Erik C. Fimreite, 30, of Waukesha, has been charged with felony burglary. He's due in court on May 30 for his initial appearance.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Milwaukee County, police officers responded to the State Farm Insurance Office, 8777 W. Forest Home Ave. on a report of a burglary on the morning of Jan. 15, 2014.

Investigators say a State Farm manager showed up to work that morning and found that one of the office's front glass doors had been smashed and that someone gained access to the office floor.
Police said they found that two computer monitors were missing and two desks had been rummaged through. When investigators looked further, they saw that there was a partially-ripped envelope with blood on it left on her desk, and a spot of blood on an office chair.

The criminal complaint states, that police collected the envelope as evidence, and collected a swab of blood from the chair.
Investigators said that blood evidence was submitted to the State Crime Lab in 2018 for processing. When lab workers completed their analysis, officials said the DNA matched that of Fimreite.
