East Troy Man Dies Helping Greenfield Church Group

A good Samaritan​ who tried helping a church group from Greenfield ended up drowning in the Wisconsin River.

GRANT COUNTY, WI — A good Samaritan who tried helping a church group from Greenfield ended up drowning in the Wisconsin River, Sheriff's officials say.

Authorities say that the 37-year-old man identified as Scott Myren, stopped to help some children who were canoeing on the river and hung up on a sand bar.

According to a Fox 6 report, Myren stepped off the sandbar and was swept away by the current, and did not resurface.

His body was recovered approximately two-and-a-half hours later. Sheriff's officials say that there were no life jackets on any of the participants.
