Election 2011: Jacob Harycki, Whitnall School Board
Twenty-two-year-old Hales Corners man seeks first elected position.
At 22 years old, Jacob Harycki, 562 S. 113th St., Hales Corners, is the youngest candidate running for the Whitnall School Board this spring, and he hopes to bring a fresh perspective to the district.
With financial issues at the forefront of this election season, Harycki said he feels the board needs to work on balancing the budget and prepare for contracts that will expire in June.
“I think we would have to start meeting with the unions,” he said. “We might not be able to cement anything until we see what happens, but we need to prepare ourselves as best we can.”

He added that he feels the district should scale back its or consider trying to save money, possibly by extending the length of the project.
“Obviously we need to fix the water problem,” Harycki said, “but I don’t think we need to build a brand new softball field when we could just improve the existing one.”

A 10-year Hales Corners resident, Harycki is the brother of two district students and believes he is someone that will ask questions and provide different options when available.
