During the middle and late 19th century, Wisconsin and the Milwaukee area became the final destination for many German immigrants fleeing the Revolution of 1848. In Wisconsin they found the inexpensive land and the freedoms they sought. German heritage in the Milwaukee area is widespread and none is more prominent than the German culinary influence at places like Mader’s, Karl Ratzsch’s, Usingers and other well-known restaurants. Tonight’s menu is crafted with this German heritage in mind. You will sample and take home the recipes for: Spinach Salad with Hot Bacon Dressing, Beef Rouladen, Spaetzle, Braised Red Cabbage and a Simple Black Forest Torte.
