The Importance of Intimacy

2 Wednesdays, October 10 – 17

Intimacy is a pervasive human desire. With intimacy comes the ability to see each other as we really are and is borne out of reciprocal trust and safety. Intimacy is cultivated when personal aspects of ourselves are shared safely with others over a period of time and is a characteristic that can be developed. This class will introduce you to the twelve types of intimacy which — when recognized and understood — can lead to better, more satisfying relationships as well as stronger mind/body/spirit/social health. You will also identify those people in your life with who you already share a level of intimacy as well as those to whom you would like to feel closer. Explore how we typically bid for or invite intimacy — including what works and what doesn’t — and how connecting and building intimacy with another helps with your search for your own identity and meaning.

Instructor: Ian Baker Johnson, BFA, MS, CEAP, CWC is a dedicated student of 25 years in the study of consciousness as well as personal and spiritual development. She is a mindfulness, life and creativity coach and a visual artist.
