Understanding Abstract Painting

4 Mondays, October 1 – 22

Learn how to see and paint abstractly! We will look at historical references to understand the different kinds of abstraction, such as geometric abstraction vs. expressive abstraction. We will discuss color, line, composition and context and how these elements can be utilized in creating a strong painting in the absence of a traditional subject. Using acrylic, students will create multiple paintings in this class that cover the different types of abstract painting.
