Former Greenfield Basketball Star Added to Alverno's Staff
Lisa Sorgi will be in charge of strength and conditioning.

Lisa Sorgi, one of the most prolific players in basketball history, will return to her alma mater after graduating in 2010 with a degree in political science an join the women's basketball coaching staff.
A second-team All-Northern Athletics Conference selection her senior season, Sorgi became the first 1,000-point scorer in school history and was named team MVP three times. The former standout graduated as Alverno's all-time leading scorer with 1,244 points and is , yet still holds the career marks with 307 free throws made and 189 steals.
"I am very excited to have Lisa back in the program," Alverno Director of Athletics and head basketball coach Brad Duckworth said in a news release. "As a player she was one the hardest working athletes I have ever coached. Lisa was always a leader as a player, so it is going to be very natural to look to her as an assistant coach. Her passion for Alverno basketball is second to none."

Sorgi, who is attending graduate courses and working on her master's degree at Alverno, will handle the strength and conditioning aspects of the program.
"Lisa was so committed to the weight room and she will demand that of our team," Duckworth said.

Last season the Inferno (11-14, 8-10 Northern) finished tied for fourth place in the talented north division, missing out on the postseason tournament by virtue of a tiebreaker. Alverno opens the 2011-12 season on Nov. 15, hosting Mt. Mary College.
