Glenwood Elementary Field Building Vandalized, Police Investigating

GREENFIELD, WI — A field building at Glenwood Elementary School in Greenfield was vandalized recently with vulgar language and drawings.

The building, owned by the school district, is often used by the Greenfield-New Berlin Little League for concessions and maintenance, according to James Zacher, the league's president. The Greenfield Police Department told Patch it is investigating the incident.

Zacher called the vandalism "extremely disheartening." He told Patch it isn't the first time something like this has happened, a few weeks back vandalism had to be cleaned off the building, but the new markings that showed up are "much more severe."

The Greenfield-New Berlin Little League posted photos of the vandalism to its Facebook account. The markings include obscene drawings and vulgarities. Multiple sides of the building were covered in the paint, the photos showed.

"This is getting utterly ridiculous and a little out of hand," reads a statement posted to the little league's Facebook alongside the photos. The league's Facebook post said it is offering a cash reward for information that leads to "apprehension and conviction."

Katie Kuchenreuther, a digital media coordinator for the School District of Greenfield told Patch in an email the district is working with police to find whoever is responsible for the damage.

"The outpouring support from our Glenwood and Greenfield community has been overwhelming and much appreciated. We have had multiple people who have wanted to volunteer and clean up the mess," Kuchenreuther wrote. "The good news is that we have professionals coming to clean up the graffiti this weekend while our students are on break."

Glenwood Elementary School is located on the 3500 block of South 51st Street.
